1. Introduction
At Maestro, your privacy matters. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and ensuring transparency about how your data is collected, used, and protected.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights in relation to that information.
For residential customers, this Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, which can be found [here]. For all other customers, this Privacy Policy should be read together with any contract or agreement we have entered into with you.
2. Who we are
Maestro is a service provided by Lastmyle Limited, an NZ-based company committed to building a smarter, more resilient energy system. Our services connect to household appliances (like EV chargers, heat pumps and portable heaters) to optimise energy use in real-time, reducing demand on the grid and rewarding customers for their participation.
3. What personal information we collect
We collect the following personal information from you and from the Maestro device operating in your home:
Your name and contact details (email, phone number, address)
Installation and appliance details
Bank account details (for reward payments to residential customers)
Appliance usage patterns and energy consumption
We do not collect or store any unnecessary personal information.
We also collect the following technical information from the Maestro devices that you have installed:
Device connection status
System performance and diagnostic data
Our installation partners will collect your Wi-Fi network name and password to connect the Maestro device at the time of installation. That information will not be provided to us and they do not store this information.
If there are other purposes which are not directly related and other than those set out in this Privacy Policy for which we propose to use your personal information, we will notify you and request your consent to the proposed use(s).
You can choose to decline to provide your personal information to us, cancel your use of the Maestro services, and/or opt out of receiving future communications from us. However, if you choose not to provide your personal information, it may affect our ability to carry out our general functions and we may be unable to provide the Maestro services to you.
4. How we collect your information

You complete the Maestro sign-up form on our website
You communicate with our team or support services
Our devices transmit data while operating
5. Why we collect your personal information
We collect your personal information to:
Deliver, install and manage Maestro services
Monitor device performance and maintain connectivity
Optimise and shift energy use for grid support and rewards
Make payments for your participation (for residential customers)
Communicate service information to you
Communicate news, updates, or offers to you
Comply with legal or regulatory obligations or otherwise as permitted by law
6. How we protect your personal information
We take security seriously and use a range of physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect your information. These include:
Encrypted device-to-cloud communication
Secure access controls
Routine data protection and privacy audits
Limiting access to personal information to authorised staff and partners only
If at any time we need to send your personal information outside of New Zealand, we will make sure that existing contractual relationships are in place, or otherwise enter into a binding contractual relationship with an overseas party confirming that it will protect your personal information in a way that provides comparable safeguards to those provided under the Privacy Act 2020.
7. Who we share information with
We only share your information where necessary, and always with appropriate safeguards in place. This may include:
Our installation and service partners
Payment processing providers
Energy system partners (e.g. grid operators) - only aggregated or anonymised data
Government or regulatory bodies, where required by law
We never sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
8. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:

9. Accuracy and information retention
We keep your data only as long as needed to provide you with Maestro services and meet regulatory or operational requirements. If you opt out and your device remains disconnected for 12 months, we will automatically delete your personal data from our system.
10. Website and Cookies
When you visit the Maestro website, we may collect information about your interaction with the site to help us understand usage patterns, improve performance, and enhance your experience. This includes:

Cookies are small data files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help us recognise your browser and remember certain information, such as your preferences. We use cookies to:

We may use third-party services, such as Google Analytics, to collect information about your interaction with our site (e.g. pages visited, time spent on site, device type, actions taken on site, etc). This data is aggregated and anonymised, and can not be used to personally identify you.

Our website may contain links to external websites. Please note that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
11. Mandatory reporting of notifiable privacy breaches
If your personal information is involved in a privacy breach which we reasonably believe is notifiable or must be reported in accordance with the Privacy Act, we will inform the affected individual/s and report to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be available at maestropower.co.nz/privacy.
If we make a material change to this Privacy Policy, we will inform our customers via email. If you are not a customer, or you have elected not to receive communications from us, we will inform you of the changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy to our website.
The updated Privacy Policy will apply from the date that we email you and/or upload the updated version to our website.
Your continued use of the Maestro services and/or communication with us constitutes your acceptance of our updated Privacy Policy, and any personal information collected or held by us will be subject to the updated Privacy Policy.
