Terms and conditions

Effective 28 May 2025

We’ve tried to make Maestro as easy as possible. Here are our plain English Terms and Conditions which outline what you need to do and what we need to do.

These terms apply when you choose to join Maestro, a service provided by Lastmyle Ltd (“we”, “our”, or “us”). Please read them carefully.

By signing up and installing Maestro, you agree to these terms.

1. What is Maestro?

Maestro helps you use energy smarter. We do this by connecting some of your appliances to our software platform via our hardware.

Maestro is currently compatible with heat pumps, space heaters and EVs charged with a standard 3-pin plug.

Maestro shifts when and how energy is used, based on grid signals.

It helps reduce pressure on the electricity grid, and you get rewarded for using it.

By signing up, installing and/or using Maestro, you agree that we can send signals to, and receive signals from, your Maestro device and make small changes to your electricity supply. This may include temporarily pausing the power supply to your connected devices for short intervals during peak usage periods. You are unlikely to notice any tangible differences in the way your devices operate when they are connected to Maestro.

For more information on how Maestro works and the rewards available, please see the Questions page on our website.

2. What do you get?

  • Free hardware and installation: We’ll install the Maestro hardware at your home at no cost to you.

  • Cash payments: We’ll pay you twice a year (June and December) for participating.

  • No app or complicated controls: You don’t need to do anything after installation. Maestro works in the background.

  • Potential energy bill savings: Whilst this is not guaranteed, many households using Maestro find their heating or cooling-related power bills are lower.

3. Who who can use Maestro?

To use Maestro, you need:

  • A compatible appliance (Split unit heat pump, space heater, or EV that charges via a standard 3-pin plug)

  • Wi-Fi access in your home (and the Wi-Fi signal must reach your appliances)

  • A home in New Zealand (we’re not available outside NZ yet)

  • To be in a region that is served by Maestro

  • To be a householder with the authority to pay the bills for this property

By signing up to have a Maestro device installed at your home, you agree:

  • That you are at least 18 years old; and

  • That all people residing at your home who are at least 18 years of age consent to the installation and use of Maestro in your home.

4. Your rights under the law

We follow New Zealand consumer laws including the Fair Trading Act, Consumer Guarantees Act, and Privacy Act. This means:

  • We’ll act honestly and not mislead you.

  • The service must be fit for purpose and provided with reasonable care.

  • Your personal information will be handled with care and respect. See Section 9 for details.

5. What do you agree to?

By signing up you are representing and warranting to us that:

  • You are the individual you claim to be.

  • You are acting on your own behalf and not on behalf of any other person.

  • All the information you have provided to us is true, accurate, current and complete.

  • You have advised all people living who are at least 18 years of age in your home that Maestro will be installed and used in your home, and they have consented to this.

By signing up you are granting us the following permissions:

  • You give us permission to install Maestro hardware in your home, via our installation partners at Electric Six.

  • You agree to provide your Wi-Fi name and password to our installation partners at Electric Six, so they can connect your Maestro device to our secure cloud platform.

  • You agree that whilst your Maestro device remains plugged in, we can continue to connect to your device and collect data from your device, using your Wi-Fi connection.

  • You agree to let Maestro make small, temporary adjustments to when your connected appliances use electricity, including temporarily pausing power supply to your connected devices for short periods during peak usage times.

By signing up, you also agree that:

  • You will remove and return your Maestro device(s) if you move house, unless the new residents or tenants have agreed to keep them and have signed up to use Maestro.

  • You will not leave any Maestro devices installed in circumstances where new tenants or residents are not aware of them or have not consented to using them.

  • You’ll let us know if your contact details or bank account details change.

  • You will not offer your Maestro device for resale at any time to any person.

  • You have read and agree to our Privacy Policy.

6. How payments work

  • By signing up to use Maestro, you acknowledge that grid operators pay Maestro for providing energy flexibility services. Some of this revenue is passed on to residential customers like you in the form of rewards.

  • You’ll receive cash payments twice a year if Maestro is active in your home. Rewards payments are made in June and December each year. Maestro’s first rewards payments will be made in December 2025.

  • Your payment amount will be based on factors including your location, number of connected devices, and how and when you use them. Because Maestro is newly available to the public, we cannot predict or guarantee the value of the reward payment you will receive.

  • When we make a reward payment to you, you will receive communication from us setting out the basis for our calculation of your reward payment.

  • Payments will be made to your nominated bank account. It is your responsibility to ensure that your bank account details are accurate and up to date at all times.

  • You can update your nominated bank account at any time by contacting us at support@maestropower.co.nz. We will call you to verify the change. Updates to your nominated bank account must be made at least 14 days prior to rewards payment dates to ensure you receive your reward.

  • Maestro will not be responsible for any failures to make payment, or payments made to the wrong account, if you have not provided valid and accurate bank account details.

7. Installation and setup

  • We use a trusted partner (currently Electric Six) to complete installations.

  • Setup usually takes around 10–30 minutes, depending on how many appliances you connect.

  • You don’t need to do anything technical - the installer handles everything.

  • By signing up to Maestro and booking an installation, you agree to ensure somebody is available at your home at the agreed time to provide access for the installation.

  • You agree to treat our installation partners with courtesy and respect and to inform us in advance of any safety or access concerns that our installation partners should be aware of.

8. What if something goes wrong?

  • If Maestro hardware is faulty, we’ll replace it at no cost to you.

  • If you believe your devices have stopped connecting or are not performing as expected, please contact us at support@maestropower.co.nz.

  • If you no longer want to use Maestro, you can disconnect your device by simply unplugging it. If you change your mind, simply plug it in again within 12 months.

  • If you unplug your Maestro device, please let us know. We’ll ask you to return your device at our cost (we’ll either send you paid postage to return the device, or we will come and collect it from your home free of charge).
